So far, Nigeria has been trying her best to ensure that no Nigerian get infected with the Ebola Virus that was brought into the country's most populous state of Lagos by the Liberian, Patrick sawyer, who died some few days ago. But seem it's just getting unstoppable as it was initially reported that the doctor who treated the victim before his death is presently diagnosed positive of the virus which has kept her family into a close watch, although, none of them has been reportedly to be tested positive yet. It was just reported that not . some other health workers who assisted also were showing symptoms of the virus but all have also tested negative. 70 people who were believed to have had close contact with the Liberian victim were given close watch while another 8 have been quarantined.
Recently, Nigeria Doctors are on strike which is a great setback for Nigeria to fight the spread of this disease. However, some believe its a blessing in disguised as the Liberian victim would have been taken to a public hospital where the disease could be uncontrollable.
Truly, I feel Nigeria is just unfortunate as the Liberia man acted out of his own wish without despite many warnings given to him in his home country. it was reported to have acted as if nothing was wrong with him and was even denying his selfish action when he was being questioned. This could happen to any country and I hope all other will be vigilant enough to tackle any spread of this deadly disease in their country. I feel every traveler should secure a YELLOW paper from a recognised hospital in the country where he/she is coming from. Also, there should be active surveillance at the airport before any traveler gets the arrival section. It worth it to delay travelers for even 5 hour in order to safeguard millions of lives.
