EBOLA: US TO TRY A VACCINE IN NIGERIA


                        It was reported that the US intends to try one of her developed Ebola vaccine,which has worked perfectly on monkeys, on humans in Nigeria. The trial which will start in September, Tuesday,2nd is also said to be conducted in Mali and Gambia but by 2nd to 3rd week of September. This vaccine is proudly produced by the US National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) where 20 volunteers will be under surveillance.
                          Vaccine test which includes mixtures that uses both the recent Zaire strain and another,Sudan. By 2nd week of September, the testing will be shifted to UK where 100 volunteers will be involved. As for Nigeria, the test trial will take place in National Institute of Health clinical center in Maryland and will be conducted on uninfected adults to see if the vaccine will be effective, safe and produce the adequate immunity the body requires.
                           If this vaccine produces a substantial result, it will definitely  be a vital tool for Ebola preventive measure,  this is the first stage of the long trial process. Ebola has claimed more than 2000 lives in four West African countries where three of them are heavily affected.
