It has been reported by UN that over 2.2 people are poor or close to poor with natural disaster, high food prices, financial problems worsening the problem. 1.5 people in 91 developing countries while another 800 million are dangling on the edge where about 1.2 billion live by $1.25 or less daily. Although this figure is declining year after year but really, it its better of to sustain than still going back to the previous state. Poverty in some country actually is caused by vulnerability of such state where natural disaster is prevalent thereby destroying lives and properties. It was revealed that making vulnerability structure central in future development agenda is a major way to ensure progress is ascertained and sustained. Reducing vulnerability and Building resilience calls for making social service available to all and putting full employment at the top of development agenda. Providing basic social security benefit to world poor countries will only cost less than 2% of the world's GDP.
There is really high margin of inequality which increases the widespread of poverty. There some countries thriving high in GDP but considering the per-capital income is nothing to write home about e.g Nigeria. about 1.2 million people are homeless, over 20 million graduate youths unemployed(doing nothing) when few people sit on billions of dollars, refuse to establish industries in their country. we hope someday, eyes will be opened and people will stand to fight for what is right and not just belly...
