Maryam Ibrahim, who was sentenced to prison gave birth to a disabled child. This was as a result of the fact that she was chained on both legs even at the point birth.
The 27-year old was meant to deliver before her death sentence for the fact that she coverted to Christianity- a criminal act in Sudan called APOSTASY. She was later freed after her lawyer claimed in the court that she had been a christian since her muslim father abandoned her and she had to stay with her christian Ethopian mother.She was released on June 23rd after which she was arrested at the airport while trying to travel and detained again. The current allegation levied against her being the fact that she possessed forged travelling document. When she was asked about this, she said in her words, "How can my papers be wrong? My papers came from the Embassy. It's 100% correct and was approved by the south Sudan ambassador and the American ambassador. I have the right to use the papers and have a South Sudan passport because my husband is a south Sudanese citizen. he has both American and south Sudanese passport. I didn't forge any papers"
A request,though, has been submitted to the district attorney by Maryam's lawyer for the forgery case to be ruled out so that the family can leave Sudan freely and safely. We hope this is done as soon as possible. Every man has the right to any religion so far it doesn't disturb the existence of another man. What is your take on this?
