OBESE PEOPLE PRONE TO HIGHER RISK OF BREAST CANCER: IMPROVED TREATMENT INTRODUCED

It was reported that a recent study observes the fact that women with high cholesterol could be at higher risk of developing breast cancer which focus on obesity being the main risk bearer of all woman-kind.  Former findings have showed a link between obesity (that results to high cholesterol) and its influence on breast cancer growth and size of tumor. However, the research also pointed "Statin"-drug used in reducing bad cholesterol in the blood- is effective in preventing breast cancer.
Recent research has gone further discovering a tangible treatment for breast cancer formation using an experimental antibody,264RAD, to block the assistance the molecule,alpha-v-beta-6(αvβ6), renders towards the growth of the tumor with the combination of  Trastuzumab(Herceptin) which was initially used to block the  signal sent from HER2 that promotes growth of tumor. Normal breast doesn't possess this molecule while over 40% of tumors in HER2 (cancer carrier) positive patients. It is however noted that almost 70% of cancer patients don't respond to Herceptin or develop a resistant to the therapy which is why the use of 264RAD is need to be administered along with trastuzumab or before trastuzumab is used for its effectiveness.

Medical Research Council and Breast Cancer Campaign have however provided grants for further research on eradication of this disease and hope that a new effective treatment which will save up to half of women diagnosed with positive breast cancer by 2025. Get Informed...
