Facebook is reported to face inquiry by UK investigator for conducting a psychological study without users' consent as itis said to have broken Data Protection Law. The test which was seen to have manipulated the news feed of up to 700,000 users . The Information Commissioner Office has said it has it in plan to question Facebook for this act. Facebook,however, is claiming it has taken necessary steps towards the appropriate protection of users information. The research which was conducted in 2012 in affiliation to Cornell University and University of California, San Fransisco experimented the extent to which people respond to emotional expression in the news feed. The result proved that those who have negative stories are less likely to have negative news feed and vice-versa. The test was actually criticised due to the fact that Facebook users are not aware of this test.
Well, I don't think there is any big deal for the action as, psychologically, to get the required result, it is better for respondents to be unaware.
