Much anticipation as Nigeria was to play her first match in the world cup yesterday. Many teams have been giving surprises such as Netherlands beating Spain mercilessly, also yesterday, Germany thrashing Portugal with 4 goals to 1. Nigeria was expected to make a great impact also as Iran was not a form of any threat. Ending a goalless draw made it so disappointing that Nigerian spectators were hitting their heads against each other. Report said Keshi gave the excuse of the team playing out of fear, but is this meant to be? Personally, I don't see any form accuracy not in term of pass, crossing, trapping etc. But it was no doubt that they were able to stabilize the game and prevented the Iranians from penetrating. Kudos to Enyeama, Mikel Obi, Shola Ameobi and Osaze who keep their positions intact. I just hope this match would be the least of Nigeria's performance as Nigerians expect a vivid improvement in their next game against Bosnia Herzegovina cos the last match will be as tough as what Nigerians won't expect.
Ghana on the other hand saved the day with a very superb and improved tactics only that LUCK wasn't on their side. I guess the early goal really gave the American an edge. But i am sure Ghana's next match will be better of. So far, Ivory Coast is still the only African country that have claimed the three (3) point and only Nigeria and Iran have secured a draw so far in the world cup. I hope there will be a better performance for Africans in the subsequent matches as we are expected to go farther in this tournament if not bring the cup home. Thanks
