Police has
arrested four (4) Colombians who transferred cocaine content in a plastic
banana from Colombia down to London. The cocaine, reported to weigh 150kg was
captured by surveillance operations monitoring its movement from the port to
the warehouse where it was dropped in Lambeth and Kent. The consignment was
said to have arrived at Dover around 6am on Thursday and was delivered by a
lorry to a trading estate in Kent. After the consignment was offloaded and the
four men went out to an internet café in Stockwell, South London , deducing
that they went to take some instructions on what to do with the consignment,
detectives decided to give them a follow up while some detectives also were
watching over the warehouse. Later, the men were arrested after they left the
café. In the night on the same day, the Police forced their way in to the
warehouse and discovered the drugs hidden in fake bananas mixed with real ones.
Officer said the wholesale market value of the drug will be about £7 million while on-the-street sale will amount to about £25 million. The four Colombians are now the police custody and the lorry driver set free asfter proper investigation showing he knew nothing about the drug.
